BEATRIX POTTER 150 YEARS (1866-1943)

Beatrix Potter 150 years (1866 -1943)
2016 is a very significant year for many reasons. It is the commemoration of the death of two of the best authors of the world: William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra.
It also marks 150 years since Beatrix Potter was born in London. She is considered to be one of the world’s best children’s tale writers and nature-animal lovers. However, not many people know the life and challenge of this fascinating woman or the legacy she left in her lifetime, during the 19th century when ambitious women were not taken into consideration. As nature lover, she adored spending time in the Lake District area... She is a wonderful author to start reading and could be a delightful present for “Sant Jordi 2017”.
We strongly recommend her books to all the family members!

The Tale of Peter Rabbit is one of her most known tales but she wrote many books during her life.

Why is Beatrix Potter so important nowadays?

Potter was educated by governesses and grew up isolated from other children in her mansion. She received the typical education of wealthy women at that time. She became a very strong and  independent woman raised up under Victorian values. She had numerous pets and spent lots of  holidays in the Lake District, developing a love of landscape, flora and fauna. This fact would determine her life and work.
Years later, Beatrix Potter began writing tales, painting and drawing children´s books.
She spent most of her life fighting and preserving the landscape, nature and countryside of the District Lake area in Cumbria (England). For all these reasons, she is considered to be one of the most important English writers, a naturalist and a visionary.
Thanks to people like her, we can enjoy excellent literature, eternal values and the amazing landscape of the District. Many Romantic poets like Shelley or William Wordsworth also wrote about this paradise. Many thanks to Beatrix!

This picture is so beautifull and if I cuold i like to go there and see it with my eyes. The world has many beautifull and extraordinary places that we have to take care of it, it gaves life to the world.

  7. This picture makes me feel sad because this beauty and this contrast of colours of the nature is so incredible but the humans are polluting the enviroment and we are destroying this paradises of the world they say that in 2050 there will be more plastics than fishes in the sea and that can't be like that so because of that this picture makes me feel sad.
